What is a cellphone?
A cell phone, and its related items, are the portable electronic devices that enable people to communicate and exchange data. The name comes from an acronym for radio transmitter/receiver or telephone switchboard, which means they are usually handheld telephones. They connect to your wireless connection and have a screen so you can see what's going on. Some come with a camera, some without. Many cellular telephone companies sell them as a "smartphone". Since most early models were made of plastic, many modern models are now glass, while others feature other materials. Cell phones are often made by different companies, but in recent years there has been greater focus on durability.
History of technology-based devices
Cellphones first came into being as primitive systems in 1950s, when Bell Labs' AT&T created their first commercial phone in 1946. It was around this time that Bell launched its new line of transistor-based cellular phones, which are still used today. In 1965, Motorola developed their own home phone, then called RCA, followed by others in 1976 and 1978. A few years later in 1979 Motorola published a book "Motorola." This was followed by other competitors such as Motorola DynaTAC and Motorola DynaTAC2. By 1990, smart phones were almost universally used for communication with no major market competition. Then around 2000, Apple entered the phones market, using its Symbian OS platform. Its success spurred other big manufacturers to follow it. Today, almost all American homes have at least one type of smart phone, with approximately 1 billion subscribers. All of these devices come equipped with smartphones like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.
